We currently offer 4 Distance/Online courses – three National Certificate courses through our sister college Travel Careers and Training Ltd and one completely online Flight Attendant Programme.

The 3 National Certificate courses are run through our joint Head Office in Hamilton and there is a designated Tutor that takes care of all students studying from home.  The courses are offered in written format and we are currently developing online resources as an alternative to some of the unit standards within each qualification.

Our completely online initial International Flight Attendant training Programme covers over 175 subjects. This course is unique and gives you an in depth look at the duties and responsibilities of being a flight attendant.

Below you will find a brief overview of the 3 National Certificate courses as well as a link for further information on the Flight Attendant Programme:

1. National Certificate in Tourism Level 3 (Core Skills)

The National Certificate in Tourism (Core Skills) (Level 3) is designed to provide people with a broad range of skills and knowledge required within the wider tourism industry. People awarded with this qualification are able to demonstrate customer service and communication skills.

There are 55 credits in this qualification which are made up from a variety of unit standards at level 3.

2. National Certificate in Travel Level 3

This national certificate is designed to provide people with a range of skills and knowledge required in making and processing travel arrangements.  it builds on the skills learnt in the National Certificate in Tourism Level 3 (Core skills) and is a great pathway for the National Certificate in Travel Level 4.

There are 75 credits in this qualification which are made up from a variety of unit standards of which the majority are at level 3. This qualification will change in 2011.

3. National Certificate in Travel Level 4

The National Certificate in Travel level 4 focuses on the skills and knowledge required in making and processing international travel arrangements that meet customer needs.  The qualification also recognises the skills involved in communicating with, making sales and marketing tourism and travel products to, customers and prospective customers.  This includes knowledge of international tourism destinations such as the South Pacific Islands and Australia – two very popular tourist areas for people travelling from New Zealand!

This qualification builds on knowledge and skills from the National Certificate in Travel L3. There are 65 credits in this qualification which are made up from a variety of unit standards of which the majority is at level 4 and the remainder are at level 3.

Check out these photos of some stunning outfits that our Travel, tourism and flight attending tutors wore. We certainly have campuses full of fun characters!

My Flatmate has just become the hundredth person I know to get an IPhone and now I'm jealous.
But not jealous for the reasons you might be thinking I have an IPod I have a phone I have a computer I don't need all those things in one! Well, that was before I discovered all the amazing travel applications that are available now!
Obviously working in the travel and tourism industry makes me interested in what the latest buzz is but this is particularly cool you can now download applications for different locations that you intend to visit & that application will give you information on things to do and see in the region, history, culture and even listings that include phone numbers, email addresses, websites, maps and photos! Plus it includes features such as postcards that you can send home to the people you've left behind!
What about if you head to a location and you can't speak the language? Just download the translation application not sure what language they are speaking? It will automatically detect it, and let you know! Handy!
Or travelling around NZ? Why not download the mPass application for Air New Zealand flights to make flying that much easier. With this application you can download your boarding passes and simply scan your IPhone to check in and board your flight!
I'm off to book a holiday it would be only right for me to make sure these applications work!
