50 students had the opportunity to travel on a day excursion on the Interislander on 12 & 13 August 2010 as part of an employment opportunity.  Students got a behind the scene look at what its like to work as a cabin attendant on board the ship.  The famil trip to Picton return involved, having a complimentary breakfast in the ships lounge first thing in the morning, visiting the galley area to speak to the head chef, and most importantly onto the bridge to check out the navigation area.

Students will then have the opportunity to apply for cabin attendant roles for intakes in Oct and Nov 2010.  These positions will be a 6 month contract over the busy xmas, summer season.  This gives the students the chance to gain experience in customer service, and the opportunity to then go onto roles with Airlines and cruise liners.

We currently offer 4 Distance/Online courses – three National Certificate courses through our sister college Travel Careers and Training Ltd and one completely online Flight Attendant Programme.

The 3 National Certificate courses are run through our joint Head Office in Hamilton and there is a designated Tutor that takes care of all students studying from home.  The courses are offered in written format and we are currently developing online resources as an alternative to some of the unit standards within each qualification.

Our completely online initial International Flight Attendant training Programme covers over 175 subjects. This course is unique and gives you an in depth look at the duties and responsibilities of being a flight attendant.

Below you will find a brief overview of the 3 National Certificate courses as well as a link for further information on the Flight Attendant Programme:

1. National Certificate in Tourism Level 3 (Core Skills)

There are 55 credits in this qualification which are made up from a variety of unit standards at level 3.

2. National Certificate in Travel Level 3

This national certificate is designed to provide people with a range of skills and knowledge required in making and processing travel arrangements.  it builds on the skills learnt in the National Certificate in Tourism Level 3 (Core skills) and is a great pathway for the National Certificate in Travel Level 4.
